From the vantage point of having done youth ministry for nearly four decades, the one single factor that continues to unravel students more than any other remains friendship choices. Fortunately or unfortunately (depending on the people), there is the undeniable reality that the voices we "follow" slowly, over time become our voice. That is why I cannot ever hit on the topic or say enough, "Show me your friends and I will show you your future."

So, tying together the worlds of Twitter, Remember the Titans and biblical truths from the life of Achen, I challenge students to "block" out wrong friendships and fight for the rare few that will honestly make them better. For neutralizing friendships will always stand at the door to spiritual mediocrity.
